SOCIAL PROGRAM

Orchestra and Chorus Performance

In order to facilitate our participants and accompanying persons to better understand the Taiwanese culture and music, the congress has arranged a two-hour (7:30-9:30 P.M.) performance of orchestra and choral music, immediately following the reception (6:00-7:30 P.M.) on 18 May 2010. This free of charge performance includes orchestra and mixed chorus, in which the performers mainly come from the faculty, staff and alumni of the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU). The NCKU is famous in the areas of engineering, natural science, medical science, and management. The NCKU now ranks no. 2 or 3 in an academic performance in Taiwan and no.285 in the world. In addition, NCKU has excellent orchestra and choral groups which will give performances to entertain our participants. They will play with violin, cello, piano, Taiwan-made mandolin, etc. and sing Taiwanese and Chinese songs. Folk songs (e.g., Anping- Memorial Melody, Love at Kuanzeling, etc.) of Tainan City and County will be sang in the performance. I hope that all participants and accompanying persons will sing these songs while visiting the Anping and Kuanzeling scenic areas during the Congress. I encourage you all to join this social program.

With best wishes,

Jiin-Shuh Jean
